Autonomous testing
Autonomous testing: what it is and how it works
· The AmbientQA team
Test automation answers one question well: did the scripts we wrote still pass? Autonomous testing answers the question before it: what should be tested at all, given what just changed?
The loop
An autonomous QA platform builds an understanding of the application, decides what needs coverage based on change and risk, creates or improves the tests, runs them, analyzes what failed and why, and updates its understanding when the product moves. Each stage feeds the next, and the loop does not stop.
Why the distinction matters
Traditional automation made execution faster while leaving authoring, maintenance and triage with the team. Those three are where the hours actually go, which is why faster execution never felt like enough.
